Zakk Sabbath To Faithfully Cover Black Sabbath’s Self-Titled Debut Album In Full

Zakk Sabbath, the Black Sabbath covers band led by Black Label Society‘s Zakk Wylde alongside ex-Rob Zombie bassist Rob “Blasko” Nicholson and former Queens Of The Stone Age, etc. drummer Joey Castillo, will be releasing a tribute to Black Sabbath‘s 1970 self-titled album next year.

Upping the ante, the band will attempt to recapture the spirit of the original album by recording it entirely analog in a single 24-hour period with an additional day to mix it. The entire process will also be documented with the footage to be compiled into a bonus DVD. This new take on the classic record will be titled “Vertigo” and is scheduled to arrive on February 13th, 2020—50 years to the date the album originally saw a release on Vertigo Records.

Magnetic Eye Records will be issuing the record, which will be made available via a vinyl (with digital download), CD and DVD package that was limited to 500 pre-orders. That option quickly sold out in a period of a few hours. Thus far the band have no plans to commercially release the effort beyond that.

In other news, Zakk Sabbath will also have a cover of Black Sabbath‘s “Under The Sun“/”Every Day Comes And Goes” included on Magnetic Eye Records‘ tribute album to Black Sabbath‘s 1972 album, “Vol. 4“. That set is tentatively due out in April 2020 and the track listing for it can be found here.
