The drought of new Tool material could come to a close as early as this weekend as it appears the band will be performing at least one new song live during their upcoming touring this month. The band shared the following tease of that earlier today, May 01st:

Likewise, the band’s guitarist Adam Jones shared the below clip of himself practicing what appears to be a section of the band’s previously previewed new track “Descending“, which they have performed pieces of live in the past.
Tool are thought to have completed their new album some time ago with it having been mastered earlier this year. A title and release date for it have yet to be announced. The group’s current live schedule runs as follows:
