Magnetic Eye Records‘ latest tribute project finds the label corralling a bunch of artists to cover the songs found on Black Sabbath‘s 1972 release, “Vol. 4“. While they managed to snag Zakk Sabbath, Thou, Matt Pike of High On Fire/Sleep and more for that compilation (see the tentative track listing here,) they also found themselves with a surplus of funds. The label had originally set out to crowdfund $5,000 for the project via Kickstarter and wound up raising $25,300.
Recalling a similar situation that the label had with their past Pink Floyd tribute, they have now announced a companion album dubbed “Best Of Black Sabbath Redux” that will seemingly cover tracks from through Sabbath‘s career. Artists already lined up to take part in that include:
- Summoner
- Elephant Tree
- Ironweed
- Earthless
- Owl
- Rwake
- Mooner
- Year Of The Cobra
- Leather Lung
- Brume
- Caustic Casanova
- Dead Witches
Also on deck for that album is a collaboration between CKY‘s vocalist/guitarist Chad I Ginsburg and drummer Jess Margera and Fireball Ministry‘s vocalist/guitarist James Rota and bassist Scott Reeder. Rota and Margera previously teamed up together in The Company Band.
