Destrage To Release New Album “The Chosen One” In May, Unveil Title Track

Destrage‘s fifth studio album has officially been christened “The Chosen One” and will be released on May 24th via Metal Blade Records. Pre-orders for the record are up now over at and a newly released video for the title track can be viewed below. Guitarist Matteo Di Gioia said of this newly released song:

“The song ‘The Chosen One‘ is brief, has no repetitions and an unresolved structure. The unexplored, unrepeated sections of that unwrap with more patience on ‘The Gifted One‘, which also has an uncommon structure, but in the opposite sense. Here we have a long, pacing, reflexive closing song that shares many elements with the opener but feels completely different.”

The record will also find the outfit utilizing an apparently custom instrument they call the ‘Megatron’, which they described as being “a badass synthesizer playing guitar riffs together with the human guitarists. Like the saxophone, it’s set to disappear and fuse with the guitars to achieve a slightly unreal sound, and we knew we didn’t want these extra sounds to emerge and be obvious. Instead, we really looked for the listener to experience the ‘What the fuck is that sound?’ effect.”

A handful of guests also grace the album, including Luca Mai of Zu lending saxophone to “Mr Bugman” and helping out on “At The Cost Of Pleasure“, Fabio Visocchi aided with the keyboards on “At The Cost Of Pleasure” and “The Gifted One“, while Fabrizio Pagni assisted on electronics and programming throughout the record. “The Chosen One” was co-produced by the band and Matteo Tabacco and mixed and mastered by Josh Wilbur (Lamb Of God, Gojira).
