Dub Trio Tap Mastodon & Melvins Members For New Album, Debut New Music Video With Buzz Osborne

Dub Trio‘s fifth studio album “The Shape Of Dub To Come” has been marked for an April 26th release on New Damage Records. “World Of Inconvenience” has been chosen as the first single from the album and it finds Melvins‘ vocalist/guitarist Buzz “King Buzzo” Osborne guesting with the below music video for it having debuted today. Speaking on that cameo, the band’s bassist Stu Brooks stated:

“We are an instrumental band. We’ve only ever had one guest on our albums, Mike Patton. ‘World Of Inconvenience‘ was going to live on the album as an instrumental but the sludge metal riff was screaming for Buzz. So as a last minute add, we reached out to him. He took the instrumental to his studio in L.A. and we gave him total creative freedom. The lyrics are like a puzzle or a code that can’t be cracked in just one listen.”

As you might have already  guessed, the album’s title is indeed a homage to records previously released by Refused (and Ornette Coleman.)  Brooks commented:

“We were a dub/reggae band, and we started implementing what we thought was cool from Refused and bands like that. ‘The Shape Of Dub To Come‘ describes our whole method; applying dub as a process to virtually any style of music. The future of dub doesn’t have to be just reggae. It’s a process rather than a genre.”

It would appear that this time around the band are ready to open the floodgates when it comes to guest appearances as this new record finds Mastodon bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders lending his talents to “Fought The Line” while Meshell Ndegeocello guests on “Forget My Name“. Pre-orders for the record can be found here.
