See Soundgarden, Temple Of The Dog, Audioslave & More Perform With Special Guests At Chris Cornell Tribute Concert (Updated)

Yesterday, January 16th (and some of today) saw the official tribute concert to late Soundgarden, Audioslave, etc. frontman Chris Cornell take place at The Forum in Inglewood, CA. That event was dubbed ‘I Am The Highway: A Tribute To Chris Cornell‘ and found numerous special guests take part along with Cornell‘s former bandmates in Soundgarden, Temple Of The Dog and Audioslave back onstage. According to early reports from those in attendance, the following performances took place:

  • Alain Johannes and Nikka Costa covering Chris Cornell‘s “Disappearing One“.
  • Chris Stapleton covering Chris Cornell‘s “The Keeper“.
  • The Foo Fighters performing “Everlong” as well as covering Soundgarden‘s “No Attention“, Soundgarden‘s take on Devo‘s “Girl U Want” and Soundgarden‘s take on Cheech & Chong‘s “Earache My Eye“.
  • Queens Of The Stone Age‘s Josh Homme covering Johnny Cash‘s take on Soundgarden‘s “Rusty Cage“, with an introduction from John Carter Cash.
  • Maroon 5‘s Adam Levine and Jesse Carmichael with Pearl Jam‘s Stone Gossard covering Chris Cornell‘s “Seasons“.
  • Melvins covering Soundgarden‘s “Spoonman” along with performances of their original material.
  • Miley Cyrus covering Chris Cornell‘s “As Hope And Promise Fade“.
  • Ryan Adams covering Chris Cornell‘s “Dead Wishes” and Soundgarden‘s “Fell On Black Days“.
  • Rita Wilson covering Chris Cornell‘s “The Promise“.
  • Metallica covering Soundgarden‘s “All Your Lies” and “Head Injury” along with performances of their own “For Whom The Bell Tolls” and “Master Of Puppets”.
  • Toni Cornell covering Bob Marley‘s “Redemption Song” with Ziggy Marley.

Audioslave:

  • Cochise” with Perry Farrell and Geezer Butler
  • Be Yourself” with Juliette Lewis and Geezer Butler
  • Set It Off” with Tim McIlrath of Rise Against, Sam Harris of X-Ambassadors and Chris Cheney
  • Like A Stone” with Brandi Carlile and Chris Cheney
  • Show Me How To Live” with Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters and Robert Trujillo of Metallica

Temple Of The Dog also took to the stage with Nikka Costa, Brendan O’Brien, Jerry Cantrell & William DuVall of Alice In Chains, Fiona Apple, Miguel, Miley Cyrus, Brandi Carlile, Chris Stapleton and Alain Johannes. Through various pairings they covered Cornell‘s “Preaching The End Of The World” and “Can’t Change Me“, Soundgarden‘s “Hunted Down” (DuVall) as well as their own “All Night Thing” (“Apple“), “Reach Down” (Miguel), “Say Hello 2 Heaven” (Miley Cyrus) and “Hunger Strike” (Carlile and Stapleton).

Soundgarden:

  • Rusty Cage” with The Pretty RecklessTaylor Momsen
  • Flower” with Marcus Durant (ex-, Zen Guerilla, etc.)
  • Outshined” with Durant and Pearl Jam‘s Stone Gossard
  • Drawing Flies” with Momsen and more
  • Loud Love” with Momsen, Wayne Kramer of MC5 fame and Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine/Audioslave, etc. fame
  • I Awake” and “The Day I Tried To Live” with MelvinsBuzz Osborne and Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters (on vocals)
  • Black Hole Sun” with Brandi Carlile, Peter Frampton and Tim and Phil Hanseroth

Jimmy Kimmel hosted the event with fan-filmed footage available below, while friends and family also delivered heartfelt tributes to Cornell.
