Mike Patton Cancels Appearance At Chris Cornell Tribute Show

Faith No More, etc. vocalist Mike Patton has announced that he will not be participating in tonight’s (January 16th) tribute concert to late Soundgarden, Audioslave, etc. frontman Chris Cornell. That show, ‘I Am The Highway: A Tribute To Chris Cornell‘, will be held at the Los Angeles Forum in Inglewood, CA tonight.

Patton, who recently had to turn down a chance to sing the U.S. national anthem at an NFL playoffs game this past weekend, commented:

“Unfortunately Im not going to be able to make the Chris Cornell tribute concert Wednesday night. Best wishes to my friends Ben, Kim and Matt and to Chris‘s family. It is going to be quite an evening. I also want to thank the Los Angeles Rams for the invitation to sing the national anthem last weekend. A bad week to not be feeling good.”

The concert will find Cornell‘s former bandmates in Soundgarden, Temple Of The Dog and Audioslave hitting the stage to celebrate the life and legacy of Cornell. Numerous special guests will be taking part in the performance, including members of the Foo Fighters, Metallica, Queens Of The Stone, Melvins, Jane’s Addiction and more.

Geezer Butler, Ryan Adams, Miley Cyrus, Adam Levine, Ziggy Marley, Brandi Carlile, Taylor Momsen, Chris Stapleton, Fiona Apple and Miguel are also expected to take part.

Jimmy Kimmel will host the event with proceeds to go towards the Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation.
