The recording sessions for Devin Townsend‘s forthcoming new album “Empath” have seen numerous guest musicians get involved over the past few months. Notably among them were numerous drummers, including the likes of Mike Keneally (Dethklok, etc.), Morgan Ågren (Kaipa), Sam “Samus” Paulicelli (Decrepit Birth) and more.
You can now add Beneath The Massacre vocalist Elliot Desgagnés to the list of guest personnel as Townsend recently revealed via Twitter:
Cheers to Elliot Einstien from Beneath The Massacre for laying down brutal vocals for my ‘choir’. A guys gotta know his limitations, and guttural vocals are not my strong suit… I just sound like SuperGrover when I try. He is a beast and it really completes the frequencies.

…I can scream like my balls are caught in a taffy puller, but low death metal vocals, I just sound hilarious. 🙂

Meanwhile, in an update shared by Townsend yesterday, November 21st, he revealed that he expects the sessions for the album to wrap up by the end of the week. “Empath” is tentatively expected out in March on InsideOut Music with more exact details still to come.
