Megadeth’s David Ellefson To Be Honored With ‘David Ellefson Day’ In His Hometown

Megadeth, Metal Allegiance, etc. bassist David Ellefson will be honored in his hometown of Jackson, MN this year with a ceremonial annual holiday—’David Ellefson Day’—having been declared in his honor. Ellefson will be celebrated on October 09th with a ceremony to be held at his alma mater, Jackson High School.

The city’s mayor, Wayne Walter, will attend the ceremony with Ellefson also due to perform a special ‘Basstory‘ show to the students, fans and media in attendance.

Meanwhile, Ellefson has also formed the David Ellefson Youth Music Foundation, a charitable foundation that aims to put instruments in the hands of underprivileged youth and back in underfunded public school music programs. A donation of instruments will be made to the aforementioned school at the ceremony. Ellefson himself commented:

“I grew up in Jackson, and the music program at the High School was so instrumental to the fundamentals of my music education, and, really, served as a huge part of the foundation that I would build my career on. So it is a tremendous honor to not only be able to be honored by my hometown in such an incredible fashion, but to be able to give back, and hopefully help inspire the dreams of the next generation of musicians.”

Ellfeson is currently out on this leg of his ‘Basstory‘ tour with this East Coast leg booked for November.
