Corey Taylor Talks Busting Zakk Wylde’s Balls With ‘Pride And Glory Holes’, Potentially Expanding The ‘Knotfest’

Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor appears on the latest episode of ‘The Jasta Show‘, hosted by Hatebreed, etc. frontman Jamey Jasta. When asked if the ‘Knotfest‘ could ever expand to a potential 20-30 date tour, filling the void left by the ‘Ozzfest‘, ‘Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival‘, etc., he responded:

“It’s definitely something we’re thinking about and it’s one of the reasons why we built it the way we have. For us it was about the foundation of the brand itself. It was making sure that this was something that we could continue to build up. You don’t want to go from zero to a million.

So, it’s something that we’re definitely thinking about—certain spots in America—making ‘Knotfest‘ dates. And, this is important, we’re not afraid to take it away for a year and then bring it back.

That’s what people don’t understand. It’s not completely gone, ’cause we’re doing the one in Colombia. But, it doesn’t have to be a yearly thing.

Do it one country one year, do it in a couple other countries the next year. It doesn’t have to be something like that so you’re constantly, constantly stabilizing your brand and making money and doing something cool… And you’re also creating supply and demand.”

While a North American ‘Knotfest‘ is not scheduled for 2018, the festival will be hitting Bogota, Colombia this year. At the moment, Taylor is on the road as direct support to Ozzy Osbourne with Stone Sour (get those dates who here) and also revealed that a current pleasure of his and his Stone Sour bandmates has been ribbing Ozzy‘s guitarist Zakk Wylde (also of Black Label Society, etc. fame.) Speaking of that, he told Jasta:

“So my new thing is now is busting his balls about starting to tribute bands to his various side bands. I told him I was going to start a tribute band called ‘Pride And Joy.’ He lost his mind, like ‘You know it’s Pride And Glory‘ and I was like ‘I don’t give a shit, it’s not your band. We found joy of you not being in this band.’ He was losing his mind.

I was like the new thing that we’re gonna be selling out of the merch booth is ‘Pride And Glory Holes.’ There’s the rubber things that you put in the acoustics to keep the feedback down—he was fucking laughing his tits off.

So I was like OK, new idea, we have the ‘Grey Sticker Club’… He was fucking losing his mind.”
