Orange 9mm Are Up To Something

It seems there may be something in the pipeline from Orange 9mm. That long defunct outfit spawned from the ashes of the then broken up outfit Burn and released a handful of EP’s and and albums in the 90s, two of which arrived via major labels.

As Brooklyn Vegan point out, the group have launched a new Instagram account. Interestingly the bio for that account in part states “…Stay tuned and much love.”

Meanwhile, fans have noted that the band’s 1994 self-titled EP has recently been pulled from Spotify and the group’s frontman Chaka Malik has been rather coy in response to them via the aforementioned Instagram account.

As such, some have taken to guessing that a reissue of that EP may be in the works, while others are hoping for even more. Two posts have been made to the Instagram thus far and both focus on the now missing debut EP. As for Malik himself, he has of course been fronting the reunited Burn in recent years.

@ct3guitar and I – @ghost_decibels were both just dealing with band breakups and wanted to do something tied to nyhc but that also included some non punk influences. Our favorite communal bands at that time were Tribe, Screaming Trees, and Smashing Pumpkins. I'd go to Chris's house or vice versa and we'd talk about and listen to music before peeping ideas that Chris or I had for songs. The rhino cover #image is another by my dad who's also responsible for the image on the back of the first @burnnyhc seven inch. This ep came together rather quickly in many ways. Lyrics were written the day of recording in most cases. Shout out to Don Fury who did our ep as well as many crucial records by bands like @agnosticfrontnyc @youthcrew88 @burnnyhc @civ_gb @sickofitallnyc @madballnyc @qsnyc etc ????????
