Opeth Demoing New Album, New “Watershed” Vinyl Pressing Planned

Opeth have been demoing material for their upcoming thirteenth studio album. Band guitarist Fredrik Åkesson recently told FaceCulture of their progress with it:

“We’re very much into the demoing. I’ve recorded a lot of solos so far. And Mikael [Åkerfeldt] has almost already written 12 songs for the new album, so we have more material than enough for an album. But I think we will at least try to finish 15 songs. So hopefully we’ll work on song ideas very soon.”

Tentative plans have the album arriving in early 2019. When asked about how the material is sounding thus far, Åkesson replied:

“Compared to the last three albums, I would say, if I can reveal anything, this album is more complex, more energetic, and I think it’s gonna be something.”

In other news, the band’s 2008 album “Watershed” is due to receive another vinyl pressing. The latest will be an individually numbered gold colored vinyl run limited to 4,000 copies worldwide. Music On Vinyl will have that out on August 10th and a product listing page for it can be found now over at Amazon.
