Korn guitarist Brian “Head” Welch‘s recent criticism of the ‘Vans Warped Tour‘ has reached the tour’s founder Kevin Lyman himself. To catch up, earlier this month the band Islander were ejected from the tour after playing one date. During Islander‘s performance in Denver, CO the band’s frontman Mikey Carvajal dove into the drums and damaged the kit.
Normally this wouldn’t be a problem, but the kit in question was a backline drum kit. Carvajal claimed the incident was an accident and the band offered to pay for the damages, but the band were still removed as a result. When Welch heard the news, he took to social media in defense of the band, offering:
“Band gets kicked off Alt/punk/hard core tour for being too wild? Not even a warning? WILD is what Vans Warped Tour has been all about for decades! L A M E”
‘Vans Warped Tour‘ founder Kevin Lyman caught wind of the post and responded in kind via Twitter:
I would ask Brian "Head" Welch, if an opening act trashed Korn's gear on stage, how long they would be kept on the tour? Just wondering. https://t.co/2BcJtI7x1v

Welch himself has since replied directly to Lyman via Twitter with the following tweet:
No offense, wasn’t blaming you… didn’t even know if Warped kicked em off, or the stage sponsor.
I see your point, but still respectfully disagree w/outcome.@VansWarpedTour bands are chaotic, there should have been back up gear 🥁🎸LOL
Thanks for all the years!
