Vinnie Paul Of Pantera/HELLYEAH

Vinnie Paul Laid To Rest, Details Emerge From His Funeral

Late HELLYEAH, ex-Pantera, etc. drummer Vinnie Paul was laid to rest yesterday, June 30th, following a private funeral service. Vinnie (aka Vincent Paul Abbott) was buried in a Kiss-themed casket at the Moore Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, TX, the same cemetery where both his brother, beloved Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbott, and mother are buried. Notably his brother was also buried in a similar styled casket.

Jose Mangin of SiriusXM‘s ‘Liquid Metal‘ fame was among those who spoke at the service, which saw ex-Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley, Vinnie‘s longtine friend Nick Bowcott, Paul Shortino of Rough Cutt and more take part. Mangin shared following details of the gathering:

“Far beyond honored to be asked to speak at my idol/friend’s funeral yesterday and represent #VinniePaul fans worldwide🙏🏽 This image taken after laying our hero to rest with family @dimebagzhag friend #nickbowcott and VP & Dimebag’s idol #acefrehley #kiss – Nick started off the services, Vin’s close friend Tim next, then me (!?!?!), then I introduced Ace, who brought up Paul singer from Rough Cut who sang, then Nick closed it out. It was all very surreal and hard to handle, but everyone in that place had so much love for Vinnie and being around each other helped us heal. #ripvinniepaul”

Bowcott you may recall also penned this tribute to Vinnie shared via Pantera‘s official website. A public celebration of Vinnie‘s life is to be held this afternoon (July 01st) at The Bomb Factory in Dallas, TX. Vinnie passed away on Friday, June 22nd, at the age of 54. An official cause of death has yet to be revealed.
