Maynard James Keenan On Tool: “You’re Gonna See Some New Music Next Year”

At this point it should come as no surprise that Tool‘s new album won’t be arriving this year. Though the band entered the studio with producer Joe Barresi (Queens Of The Stone Age, Chevelle) in early March, they’ve only currently finished up tracking drums with bass tracking now underway. Now comes direct word from the band’s frontman Maynard James Keenan that new music will arrive in 2019.

While accepting the Icon Award at last night’s ‘Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards ceremony in London, England, Keenan commented:

“I wouldn’t be here without you guys, so thank you very much for all that. A lot of work’s being done, a lot of work’s been done. I’ll go on record now saying you’re gonna see some new music next year.”

Then again, Keenan notably didn’t say Tool directly, so there’s that.
