System Of A Down’s Daron Malakian To Resurrect Scars On Broadway With New Album

It’s been nearly ten years since Scars On Broadway‘s self-titled debut album arrived in stores. While a follow-up release was originally planned for 2012, it never materialized with a series of hiatuses and lineup changes derailing the band in the years since. In a surprising turn, the band’s vocalist/guitarist Daron Malakian (also of System Of A Down) has now announced the band’s return with new music arriving next week.

Rebranded Daron Malakian And Scars On Broadway, the outfit are due to premiere a first single from their sophomore album on April 23rd. It is unclear if they plan to tour as of yet with Malakian currently listed as the only member on the band’s Facebook. While Malakian handled nearly all of the instruments on the band’s debut album, his System Of A Down bandmate John Dolmayan tracked the drums for it, though he later exited the group in 2012.

Speaking to a fan regarding the name change, Malakian commented:

“Nobody quit. When I first started Scars, I always said that it would be different lineups from album to album. Depends on the type of direction I want to take. Different musicians work for different styles. That is partly why I added my name in front of the band’s.”
