Update – February 11th, 2018 – 08:10pm:
‘Soon’ is a relative term in this sense as Bixler-Zavala has since tweeted:
I appreciate the rabid infection that spreads when anything Volta is discussed, but it’ll be a while b4 that ship takes off. Still got a lot of ground to cover w my current family @AtTheDriveIn all I did was praise a fans enthusiasm & casually mention volta being a thing.

Original Story:
It would appear that The Mars Volta reunion is more of an eventuality now rather than just wishful thinking. The band’s vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala recently tweeted the below to a fan, telling them that the outfit would “be back soon.” The band broke up in 2012, with frontman Bixler-Zavala and guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez having since been focused on the resurrected At The Drive-In and more.
Damn. I wish I had half the confidence your proclamation has! Thank you for the kind words. We will be back soon
