Of Mice & Men’s “Defy” Continues The Band’s First Week Sales Decline

Of Mice & Men‘s new album “Defy” has landed at #48 on the Billboard 200 during its first week of availability. Roughly 9,400 units were shifted during the first week in the United States. Unfortunately for the band, those numbers show a significant decrease from the first week numbers of the album’s 2016 predecessor, “Cold World“. That effort shifted 19,000 units during its first week in the United States, opening at #20 on the Billboard 200.

Notably, “Defy” is the first album to arrive from the band since the 2016 departure of frontman Austin Carlile. The band’s bassist/vocalist Aaron Pauley has since taken on all the primary vocal duties in the group. Both albums show a downward trend when stacked up against the band’s 2014 album “Restoring Force“. That album moved 51,000 units during its first week in the United States and debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200.
