Family Of Late Slipknot Bassist Paul Gray Win Settlement In Wrongful Death Suit

The family of late Slipknot bassist Paul Gray has won an undisclosed settlement in their wrongful death suit against Dr. Daniel Baldi, who had been treating Gray at the time of his death by overdose on morphine and fentanyl back in 2010.

The family of Gray had filed suit against Baldi and the company he was employed with, now known UnityPoint-Des Moines, for wrongful death. The suit alleged that Baldi had been recklessly prescribing pain medications to at risk patients, leading in part to Gray‘s death.

Though an initial case filed by Gray‘s widow Brenna was dismissed by the courts due to a statute of limitations, a charge filed on behalf of Gray‘s daughter October was allowed to proceed last year. This particular case was due to go to trial this week, though it was settled this past weekend according to a report at the Des Moines Register.

Baldi was acquitted by a jury in 2014 on 10 criminal counts of involuntary manslaughter filed against him for a series of deaths by his patients, including Gray. He has since had his medical license reinstated and works as an anesthesiologis in the Des Moines, Iowa area.
