Metallica’s “Hardwired… To Self-Destruct” Hits 1 Million Copies Sold In The United States

0 report that Metallica‘s latest album “Hardwired… To Self-Destruct” has now topped 1 million copies sold in the United States. It’s the band’s 12th studio album to hit 1 million copies sold of their career with some 58 million albums purchased in the United States alone. The band also still hold the title of the overall album sales leader of the Nielsen Music era with their 1991 self-titled album, which has sold 16.6 million to date in the United States. As you may have seen recently, both of the aforementioned albums are among this year’s top selling metal/rock albums.

Hardwired… To Self-Destruct” was previously certified platinum for 1 million units in the United States on April 12th, 2017. With the RIAA factoring in 1500 equivalent digital streams to equal an album unit sale, this latest milestone reflects pure sales of the album. Sales of “Hardwired… To Self-Destruct” benefited greatly from a ticket promotion that saw copies of the album included with tickets purchased for their summer North American tour.
