Late Soundgarden, etc. frontman Chris Cornell‘s widow Vicky Cornell has given an interview to People regarding the May 18th, 2017 passing of her husband. Cornell was found to have taken his own life by hanging himself in a hotel room after having played a set with Soundgarden earlier that night. A toxicology report later revealed that he had numerous prescription drugs in his system at the time of his death.
As she has stated in the past, Vicky believes the drugs played a large role in Cornell‘s decision to end his own life, offering: “My Chris was happy, loving, caring and warm. This was not a depressed man—it wasn’t like I missed that. What I missed were the signs of addiction.”
Cornell had struggled with addiction in his earlier years but was thought to have been clean since 2009. Vicky further added: “He didn’t want to die. If he was of sound mind, I know he wouldn’t have done this.” She later stated: “Addiction is a disease. That disease can take over you and has full power.” You can read more over at People.com.
