Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor has fired back at Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, who recently slammed Stone Sour & Slipknot. Kroeger accused Stone Sour of being ‘Nickelback lite’ and Slipknot of relying on gimmicks for success, among other things. In an appearance on 98KUPD, Taylor was asked about the matter and offered:
“Here’s the deal, I’m sitting there trying to figure out how I was going to handle this, ‘Cause it’s so funny.”

As for the accusations of Taylor allegedly saying it was easy to write a hit song, he responded:
“You know what? I’ve never said it was easy to write a hit song. I don’t know what the hell planet he’s living on. Apparently it’s planet Kroeger, because there must be good weed there, because he’s an idiot.”
“Here’s the thing, I was so cued up to say some stuff about him. And then I just started reading all the comments online. I don’t have to say a damn thing—he is not a liked person. That’s all we have to say about it.”
He went onto dispel any notion that this was a promotional tactic. When asked what he would say to Kroeger, he replied:
“This is what I would say, you can run your mouth all you want. All I know is I’ve been voted sexiest dude in rock wearing a mask—You’ve been voted ugliest dude in rock twice, without one, stick that up your ass.”
Taylor further pointed out that his beef is only with Chad, stating:
“I love all the dudes in that band. I love Mike I love everybody else in that band I’m very, very cool with; I’ve hung out with them. It’s just ‘face like a foot’ who I can’t really hang out with. He’s got a face like a foot. Am I wrong?”
He later added:
“See, that’s the hard thing: I can’t even say anything about the band, Nickelback, because none of ’em have an issue with us. It’s him. So, dude, curl up in bed with your Hello Kitty pillow and shut up.”
Guitarist Josh Rand also revealed the following tidbit regarding Nickelback:
“Actually. I just have to throw this out there, because it is funny. They did want us to open. A couple months ago, through Canada.”
When asked if it was the label or the band, Rand clarified that it was the band. Offering: “They asked us and we declined.”
Taylor further stated of Nickelback and their past label deal with Roadrunner Records: “Let’s just say Roadrunner took all the Slipknot money and gave it to Nickelback to sign them.” Stone Sour themselves are out on the road now with Korn and more supporting their upcoming album “Hydrograd“, out June 30th.
