Kiss’ Gene Simmons Seeks To Trademark Devil’s Horns Hand Gesture

Kiss bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons has filed an application to trademark a variant of the iconic devil’s horns hand gesture. The gesture he seeks to trademark is not the traditional devil’s horns gesture thought to have been popularized by Ronnie James Dio however—Simmons‘ variant features an outstretched thumb as seen in the submitted diagram below.

Simmons is seeking to trademark the gesture for “entertainment, namely, live performances by a musical artist; personal appearances by a musical artist.” The application further goes on to state that Simmons was first seen to have used the gesture as early as November 14th, 1974, during the band’s touring. You can find the application here.
