Korn’s James “Munky” Shaffer Says He’ll Love Deftones Whether Or Not They Tour Together

Korn guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer says he will continue to love Deftones whether or not the two bands get to tour together in the years to come. If you’re not caught up, first came Deftones frontman Chino Moreno‘s explanation as to why they turned down various tours with Korn over the years (essentially it was due to the band trying to escape from the nü metal tag.)

Then following some considerable backlash from Korn fans, came word that Moreno would indeed like to tour with Korn in the future. Recently another piece of the puzzle to making that a reality seemed to have fallen into place, with Korn signing on with the same management as Deftones.

Speaking at last month’s ‘Rock On The Range‘ festival, Korn guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer told Loudwire:

“I’m such a big Deftones fan. It doesn’t matter to me, honestly. I’ll love them if I get to see them every night and play with them, or I’ll love them like I have been for so many years. We came up together at the same time so, there’s such a mutual love and respect that we have for each other—all the guys in the band. I think it’ll happen at one point. Maybe it’s a festival or whatever, but I think if the fans and everybody kind of wishes it into the universe [it’ll happen.]”
