“These are the news we all have been waiting for:

Rock am Ring 2017 will go on! After intensive searches and sweeps of the complete festival site by the police the suspicion of a potential terrorist threat has not been confirmed.

Set up for day 2 of Rock am Ring has commenced and the program is going to be resumed in the early afternoon. The incredibly disciplined fans deserve all our respect and gratitude.
We keep you posted.”

Unfortunately, scheduling conflicts mean that Rammstein will be unable to make up their performance that was booked for last night. Other artists who missed their sets may yet be integrated into the festival.

Original Story:

The annual ‘Rock am Ring‘ festival, which is being held this weekend at Nürburgring in Nürburg, Germany, has been evacuated due to a ‘terror threat’. The local police department issued the following statement on the matter (translated from German):

“The organizer of Rock am Ring has terminated today’s festive day in close coordination with the security forces. The background is concrete evidence, which can not be excluded from a possible terrorist threat. Investigations are currently underway. We can not give exact background information at this time.

As safety is paramount, and it is necessary to exclude a threat to festival visitors in any case as far as possible, it was decided to suspend the festival for this day.

With regard to the latest attack on a concert in Manchester, the security concept for Rock am Ring was modified in advance and the number of the operational forces increased significantly to around 1,200.

We take all references and all suspicious moments very seriously and follow them intensively.

After a threat could not be ruled out, all necessary measures were taken immediately.

This led to the event being interrupted today for security reasons.”

The festival’s organizers also commented in a statement:

“Due to a terrorist threat the police have advised us to interrupt the festival.

We ask all festival visitors to leave the festival site in a calm and controlled manner towards the exits and camping grounds.
We have to support the police investigations.

All visitors will be kept informed about any developments on all Rock am Ring Social Media channels, radio and the speakers.
We hope that the festival will continue tomorrow. Thank you for your cooperation.”

The festival annually hosts tens of thousands of audience members. Among the scheduled performers for this weekend are Rammstein, System Of A Down, Prophets Of Rage, In Flames, Thrice, Pierce The Veil, Suicide Silence and many more.
