Metallica took home the ‘Top Rock Album’ award at today’s (May 21st) Billboard Music Awards event at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. The group’s latest release, “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct” took home the honor, beating out the following other nominees:
The Lumineers – “Cleopatra”
Radiohead – “A Moon Shaped Pool”
Red Hot Chili Peppers – “The Getaway”
Twenty One Pilots – “Blurryface”
Metallica did however lose the ‘Top Rock Artist’ award to Twenty One Pilots. Other nominees also up for that award included:

Meanwhile, Coldplay beat out Guns N’ Roses and Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band for the ‘Top Rock Tour’ award. Beyonce also beat out Guns N’ Roses, Justin Bieber and more for the ‘Top Touring Artist’ award.
