Metallica Rocket To #2 On The Billboard Charts Thanks To Ticket Sales Promotion


Metallica‘s decision to bundle in copies of their new album “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct” with ticket packages for their summer North American tour has had a profound impact on the sales of the effort. The outing recently saw a huge increase on the Billboard 200 thanks to the strategy. report that “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct” saw a sales jump of 81,000 units (a 191% increase) and 79,000 in album sales (up 209%) last week thanks to the promotion. It was enough to propel them to #2 on the charts from their previous position of #14.

It’s become a relatively common practice as of late for bands to include copies of their new album in their ticket pre-sale packages, with the benefit not only being found in chart gains/sales, but also potentially introducing older fans to newer music they may not originally have had interest in.
