Gruesome are streaming their cover of Death‘s “Choke On It“, which they have titled “Choke On It ’91“. Gruesome drummer Gus Rios commented:
“This is a true homage from apprentice to master for me! The idea was to reinterpret this song as if Sean Reinert had recorded it, though I’ve always been very vocal about my adoration of Bill Andrew‘s more simple but solid style, so obviously NO disrespect there! This is simply a fun reworking of what I consider to be one of the best tunes on Leprosy, and one that I thought would particularly lend itself well to some more complex grooves. Doing my best Bill/Reinert impersonation!”
The song is featured on the band’s new EP, “Fragments Of Psyche“, out March 31st on Relapse. The band will be out touring alongside Obituary in May, get those dates here.
