Thanks to a viral post onĀ societyofrock.com, Godsmack‘s five-year-old cover of The Beatles‘ “Come Together” is now a chart topping track. Originally released on 2012’s “Live & Inspired“, the cover has skyrocketed to #1 of Billboard‘s Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart with 11,000 downloads sold in the past week. According to Billboard.com:

“A 4,972 percent blast to 1.5 million U.S. streams also helps “Come Together” to a No. 11 debut on Hot Rock Songs, where it’s the band’s highest debut, as well its best rank since 2010’s No. 5-peaking “Love-Hate-Sex-Pain.”

The song’s resurgence also helps the Live & Inspired album re-enter multiple charts, including Hard Rock Albums (No. 11) with 4,000 equivalent album units, of which 2,000 were pure sales; the latter number marks a 5,383 percent increase and the album’s best sales week since it moved 2,000 (in its 15th week) in September 2012.”

In light of the news, the cover will now be properly serviced to mainstream rock radio. Notably, Godsmack‘s rendition knocked another cover off the top of the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart: Disturbed‘s take on Simon & Garfunkel‘s “The Sound Of Silence“.
