Metal didn’t have the best day at the ‘Grammys‘ this year. From Metallica being played while Megadeth walked to the stage to accept their award for ‘Best Metal Performance’ to Metallica & Lady Gaga‘s technical issues and a botched intro, things certainly could have gone smoother. Some more salt was added to the wound when late Megadeth drummer Nick Menza was not included during the annual ‘In Memoriam’ segment, which honors the musicians we lost in the past year.
As unfortunate as it is, his omission could have also come down to time constraints and the sheer volume of artists, etc. we lost last year. Despite not making the telecast he was not forgotten however. The Grammys also posted this list over the weekend, which does include Menza and mentions that he and the other late artists listed are all featured in the official 59th annual Grammys program book. Menza performed with Megadeth from 1990-1997, with the band notching up several Grammy nominations during his tenure.
