The inclusion of a rather absurd request on Black Map‘s (dredg, Far, etc.) rider may have finally blown up in their face. As a joke the group had been listing “2 bales of quality feed hay w/ alfalfa” among the more standard fare of drinks, food and such that generally populates such a list. A rider if you’re unaware, is a list of items expected to be provided for the band at the venue when they turn up for the show.
As it turns out, the House Of Blues in Las Vegas, NV either called their bluff or were just that committed to fulfilling all of the band’s needs. Regardless, when Black Map arrived they found two bales of fresh hay backstage. The band commented:
“Never thought the day would come:
Our awesome Tour Manager Steve Hall has “2 bales of quality feed hay (with alfalfa)” in our rider to make sure that venues read through the whole thing (and because it’s hilarious).
Today at House of Blues Las Vegas we showed up to a glorious surprise.
First time this has ever happened. Now we have to figure out what to do with all the hay!”
Black Map are currently winding down this tour with Chevelle and Dinosaur Pile-Up. Their new album “In Droves” will be released on March 10th.
