Metallica, Disturbed, Megadeth, Deftones, Etc. Among Highest Selling Metal Albums Of 2016

Metal Insider have compiled the sales numbers for the best selling metal albums in the United States in 2016 and it’s no surprise that Metallica‘s “Hardwired…To Self Destruct” has landed at #1 with 516,000 copies sold despite only being released in November. Though not yet officially certified by the RIAA, that also puts the album at gold status for sales in the United States.

The list also features albums that weren’t released in the past year, such as Metallica‘s self-titled ‘Black Album’ selling 267,500 copies in 2016 alone. Of the other releases put out last year that made the list are:

  • Disturbed – “Immortalized” (298,000 sold)
  • Megadeth – “Dystopia” (148,000 sold)
  • Avenged Sevenfold – “The Stage” (144,000 sold)
  • Deftones – “Gore” (133,000 sold)
  • Volbeat – “Seal The Deal & Let’s Boogie” (123,000 sold)
  • Pierce The Veil – “Misadventures” (105,000 sold)
  • A Day To Remember – “Bad Vibrations” (102,000 sold)
  • Korn – “The Serenity Of Suffering” (100,000 sold)

As mentioned above, the full list also features various catalog releases from the likes of Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Nirvana and more that also shifted a considerable number of units in 2016. You can find those numbers over at Metal Insider.
