Maynard James Keenan was recently interviewed by Yahoo regarding his authorized biography, ‘A Perfect Union Of Contrary Thing‘, which is now in stores. Amid the conversation he was asked why he feels the need to “explore other artistic avenues” outside of Tool, to which he replied:

“If Tool was more prolific, if they were a little steadier, if we could get things done a little faster I would probably be happy. But things take a long time, they’re tedious. The other guys are very meticulous and I get bored. So I have to go do things in between. The perception, of course, if that they’re waiting on me. No, that’s not the case.”

Tool of course continue to work on their long-awaited follow-up to 2006’s “10,000 Days“, with a successful legal battle and undisclosed health issues partially to blame for decade-plus wait.
