Volumes Albums Once Again Disappear From iTunes

Recently Volumes proclaimed that they had regained the rights to the masters of their albums, “VIA” and “No Sleep“, from their previous label home of Mediaskare Records. In the same statement announcing their acquisition, the band also claimed:

“We had been touring and promoting these albums for the past several years but sadly NEVER received any type of earnings or proper accounting for them. This is with over 40K albums being sold.”

As labels don’t tend to part ways with rights to the master recordings very easily—or at least not before a fairly lengthy term of ownership to recoup—the whole situation did seem a bit bizarre. Regardless, the band put up remastered editions of both “VIA” and “No Sleep” exclusively through iTunes on their own 91367 Records label, stating that all profits would be going directly to them.

Fast forward a week and both of those albums have now disappeared from iTunes—presumably at the request of Mediaskare‘s legal team. Volumes, who have since signed with Fearless Records, don’t appear to have publicly commented on the disappearance of the albums as of yet. Though it would seem that things may get ugly going ahead.
