Pantera Comment On Fatal Shooting Of Musician Christina Grimmie

The Pantera camp have issued the below statement on the fatal shooting of musician Christina Grimmie at a meet & greet in Orlando, FL over the weekend. Grimmie was shot and killed by 27-year-old Kevin Loibl at the Plaza Live in Orlando, FL, who then took his own life. It’s a tragic situation that the Pantera camp can draw parallels to, given the December 08th, 2004 fatal shooting of their guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbot (as well as their head of security and a venue employee) during a Damageplan concert in Columbus, Ohio. The following post was made this morning (June 12th) on Pantera‘s Facebook:

“We are so sad and disappointed to hear that Christina Grimmie was gunned down the same way that Dimebag Darrell was. After Dime‘s murder, we all prayed that our industry (i.e. club owners & promoters) would do whatever they needed to do to protect artists from gun wielding fanatics. Sadly, that’s not the case and another rising star had to pay the consequences with her life. SOMETHING NEEDS TO CHANGE! RIP Christina & RIP Dime, Jeff Thompson, Erin Halk, and Nathan Bray.”
