Three screenings have been scheduled for the forthcoming Melvins documentary, “The Colossus Of Destiny: A Melvins Tale“. The documentary aims to tell the tale of the band from their early days onwards and features interviews with a number of their peers, including Mike Patton (Faith No More, etc.,) Chris Cornell (Soundgarden,) Krist Novoselic (Nirvana,) Josh Homme (Queens Of The Stone Age,) Gene Simmons (Kiss) and more. Director/producer Bob Hannam commented:

“I always thought it was strange that people didn’t know more about the Melvins and I felt their story needed to be told. The band members had told me that a few people had talked the talk but had never followed up on their threats to make a film about them, so a little over two years ago things really fell into place and now the end product is finished for all to see. It has been a long labor of love for the both of us and we are excited for people to see the film and understand the workings of a truly great band.”

First up is a private premiere at The Silent Movie Theater in Los Angeles, CA on May 21st. Tickets for that aren’t available to the general public, but some will be up via contests to be run on the documentary’s Facebook. The film will also screen at the ‘Don’t Knock The Rock Film Festival‘ in Los Angeles, CA in late July and at the ‘Psycho Las Vegas‘ festival in late August. A trailer for the feature can be seen below along with the poster for it created by Shepard Fairey.
