Metallica‘s role as this year’s ‘Record Store Day Ambassadors‘ isn’t just an honorary title. In addition to a spate of releases planned around the day, the group will also be taking part in an in-store performance at Rasputin Music in Berkeley, CA on the big day itself, April 16th. Drummer Lars Ulrich commented:
“Getting loud, noisy and sweaty at Rasputin’s on Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley transports Metallica right back to the core of its Bay Area beginnings. We can’t wait to celebrate Record Store Day while shaking up the East Bay old-school style.”
Given the nature of the performance, attendance spots will be limited so you’ll have to win your place. For more details on how you can do just that, head to Metallica.com. A day prior to ‘Record Store Day‘, Metallica will release deluxe box set editions of “Kill ‘Em All” and “Ride The Lightning“. A release of “Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité, Metallica! – Live at Le Bataclan, Paris, France – June 11th, 2003” will follow on ‘Record Store Day‘ itself.
