The Offspring just got a rather large payday as Round Hill Music have acquired the band’s Columbia Records master recording catalog, as well as the publishing rights to their entire career, including their Epitaph releases. The masters of the Epitaph releases (“The Offspring“, “Ignition” and “Smash“) remain in possession of Epitaph. Billboard report that Round Hill Music paid around $35 million for the rights, though terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Offspring singer/guitarist Dexter Holland commented:
“We felt that having the right caretaker for our catalogue, both the masters and the publishing, is incredibly important to the future of our career. Round Hill understands that we are continuing to perform and record and that the visibility of our past is critical to our future.”
