The new ‘Star Wars‘ film ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ got its official wide release today, December 18th, in North America. When it comes to metal bands though, the reaction is somewhat mixed. Rob Zombie, a director himself, expressed general disinterest:
“Am I the only one on Earth not interested in seeing The Force Awakens? Just wondering.
Trust me I fucking loved Star Wars as much as everyone else back in 1977. Too bad Lucas had to add shitty new digital FX and ruin it. Oh well. I have my VHS.”
While Zombie has a valid point, I think I’d rather watch the prequels back-to-back than suffer through another viewing of ‘Lords Of Salem‘. System Of A Down drummer John Dolmayan, himself an avid comics nerd, outright hated it, offering:
“In typical JJ Abrams fashion he made a beautiful looking film and a really half assed story. Let’s just say to call this film Cliché would be an insult to the word. Lost , Star Trek , and now Star Wars no hope. I’m done with this hack”
On the opposite end of the spectrum is Suicide Silence/All Shall Perish frontman Eddie Hermida, who loved it:
The Force Awakens was incredible!
