Napalm Death and Heaven Shall Burn will have a new 7″ titled “The Mission Creep” in stores on December 11th through Century Media. The vinyl only release will come with two previously unreleased songs. Napalm Death will contribute “An Extract (Strip It Clean)“, while Heaven Shall Burn will serve up “Battle Of Attrition“. The double a-side release will feature artwork for each band. Napalm Death frontman Mark “Barney” Greenway commented:
“Split recordings are a great opportunity to explore something a little different, and with the voice that Heaven Shall Burn have out there in the world, we thought it was a nice route down which to spread our own tentacles of music and ideas. The convergence of ideas between our two bands on the design side of the EP was quite seamless, so as good a meeting of minds as there should be.”
Heaven Shall Burn on the other hand offered the following collective statement:
“It is a huge honour for us to be releasing this split 7″ EP. It not only is the first 7” in Heaven Shall Burn‘s career, but also shared with a band that has been an influence on all levels of our band’s development. Napalm Death have been a constant inspiration and will always remain innovators. We are as happy as young kids, again! Our song “Battle Of Attrition” deals with the happenings on the battlegrounds of Flanders from more than a 100 years ago and the unfortunately repeating tragedies for all Nations, which are misled into devastating war scenarios.”

In related news, Napalm Death were recently joined by their ex-guitarist Bill Steer (now of Carcass) during their November 09th set in Stockholm, Sweden. You can watch fan-filmed footage of that below with the performance thought to be Steer‘s first time back onstage with the group since the late 80’s. Both outfits are presently on tour in Europe as part of the ‘Deathcrusher Tour‘.
