Deftones Still Haven’t Set A Title For New Album, Joined By Chino’s Son At ‘Aftershock Festival’

While the recording for the new Deftones album is done, not a lot else is. In an interview (see below) with drummer Abe Cunningham and sampler/turntablist Frank Delgado that was conducted over the weekend at the ‘Aftershock Festival‘ in Sacramento, CA, Cunnigham confirmed the album would be out in the new year. Delgado went on to explain:

“It’s being mixed, it actually started being mixed a couple weeks back. They’re actually going tomorrow to go down and listen to mixes and do things… We’re mixing and we are still in the process of album title, artwork, song titles—we haven’t even got their yet. But the music is done.”

Meanwhile, the band had a special guest join them onstage during their performance at ‘Aftershock Festival‘ in Sacramento, CA. Frontman Chino Moreno‘s son Jakobe joined the group for their set-closing performance of “Engine No. 9“. Those with a good memory will recall that Jakobe has a band of his own, Death Rogen. As an added bonus the Deftones also performed a bit of Drake‘s “Hotline Bling” during “Passenger“. See below for footage:
