The performers themselves had the following to say:

Philip H. Anselmo:

“It’s always my pleasure to jam with such esteemed musicians and brothers, and my contribution to this project is further proof of that fact. Hail to all Heavy Metalers the world over!”

Charlie Benante:

“We started this thing back in April 2011, four of us just playing and having a blast. I think it grew into a fun thing for all friends and fellow musicians to be a part of. My contribution to this record is guitar playing, my love after drumming. I tried to add another dimension to the songs and put my stamp on it. Metal!”

Chuck Billy:

“I am very honored to be a part of the Metal Allegiance record. The track ‘Can’t Kill The Devil’ was fun and challenging for me. Working outside of Testament lets me try different things with my voice. I think the fans are going to be singing along to this track for sure. Peace & Love”

D. Randall Blythe:

“When Lamb Of God asked Alex Skolnick to rip a guest solo on ‘Ashes of the Wake‘, it was a big deal to us to have one of the legends of our scene play on our record. Much to my amazement, years later he returned the request, and it’s an even bigger deal to me to be asked on a peer level to contribute to a project with so many stellar players. I was honored to be chosen – ‘Gift Of Pain’ rips! Play it LOUD!”

Rex Brown:

Metal Allegiance has been one helluva ride, one after another. It’s been an absolute pleasure and honor jamming with all my old friends on stage and now on record! All Hail!”

Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal:

“It’s an honor to be part of this album, playing alongside the greatest cast of metal players in the world, and showing what they do in full force. This isn’t a ‘writing project’, these are guys with history of playing live together, you can hear the chemistry and authenticity in the music.”

Phil Demmel:

“I’m honored to be asked to jam with metal royalty. So stoked to throw down with legends!”

David Ellefson:

Metal Allegiance is the truest form of freedom for all of us because it’s really about good friends making great music together… the way it’s always meant to be!”

Alissa White-Gluz:

“I am totally honored to be singing alongside so many greats! What a great song and a great project. It was tons of fun and I think we created a fantastic tribute to Ronnie James Dio with this mega-collaboration. We Rock!”

Matthew K. Heafy:

“Without Testament, Megadeth, and Dream Theater, Trivium wouldn’t exist. I, musically, would not exist. It is an absolute honor to have been given the opportunity to perform on an album with 3 of my life-long musical heroes. I can’t wait until the world gets to hear the music these legends have composed.”

Gary Holt:

“I’m stoked to have laid down some leads for the upcoming Metal Allegiance record! Such a pleasure to participate with so many musicians I’ve never had the opportunity to record with, as well as recording with my fellow jam partners for the first time! Let it roll!”

Jamey Jasta:

“I’m beyond excited to be a part of the Metal Allegiance record. It’s an awesome tune and I think fans will be pleasantly surprised with this collaboration. Big thanks to Mike, Mark, Dave & Alex for the opportunity!”

Chris Jericho:

“When Mike Portnoy asked me to sing on a Ronnie James Dio song, I said ‘what time do you need me and where can I park my dragon?’ It was a huge honor to be asked to sing on a tune by one of my biggest heroes and played by some of my best friends in rock n roll. I’m stoked to be one of the Last In Line!”

Andreas Kisser:

“I feel privileged to be a part of the Metal Allegiance family. To jam with such metal legends is mind blowing! I was invited to play with Metal Allegiance at their House of Blues show earlier this year and was very happy that I was able to attend such a glorious meeting. Also very honored that we played some Sepultura songs alongside the greatest metal classics of all time. Few months later, David Ellefson called and told me about the debut Metal Allegiance album with original songs and asked if I wanted to play leads on some of the tracks! Yeeaah! Awesome idea to write new songs! Great that this gathering of amazing musicians are generating new music. Very happy to play on the album and cant wait to hear the final result!”

Misha Mansoor:

“I am not the biggest fan of writing solos, let alone guest ones. However, when I heard the section I was offered to solo over, I thought it might be a fun challenge. Luckily, it ended up being exactly that!”

Mark Menghi:

Metal Allegiance was developed to do something different, to give the fans something new all while trying to leave a small dent in heavy metal history…with my brothers: Mike, David and Alex, along with our friends who guested on the record, we were able to deliver that vision. The foundation of Metal Allegiance is to surround ourselves with good people and good musicians. It’s not about egos; its not about who is a better player; its more about ‘who is a good person?’ That is the foundation of Metal Allegiance.”

Mark Osegueda:

“I was honored when I was asked to be a part of the Metal Allegiance family. Just being asked to be a part of the live show thrilled me to the core! Then to be asked to participate in the debut album of Metal Allegiance, took that excitement and honor to a thrilling, yet humbling new high! Playing original music with my peers who I can now call friends has been a magical experience! I can’t wait for the public to hear this material that everyone involved with worked so hard on! And I can’t wait to play this material live! Believe me when I tell you… That you can’t wait to hear it either! See you at the shows! Pledge your Allegiance!”

dUg Pinnick:

“It was simply an honor to be a part of this project! I hope we can do this again!”

Mike Portnoy:

“I could not be any more excited or proud of the Metal Allegiance album… it’s everything I’ve always dreamed of and hoped for & 100x more!”

Tim “Ripper” Owens:

“It’s really cool to be jamming with these guys, they are legends and luckily my friends! Everything that Metal Allegiance will touch will turn into pure power. Lets do it!”

Troy Sanders:

“Existing within Metal Allegiance is like my first part-time job at the circus. It’s thrilling to hang out with the freaks, but you don’t have to live with them forever”

Cristina Scabbia:

“It is unbelievable for me to be part of such an amazing project and with all these incredible musicians. The love we all have for music and what we do for a living added to the fact that we cherish our friendship created an even bigger explosive factor that will blow your minds! Such a honor and privilege to hear my voice on this incredible record… can’t wait for you to hear it!”

Alex Skolnick:

“Words cannot convey how proud I am of this release. It’s been an honor to work with so many talented folks, from the master rhythm section of Ellefson/Portnoy to our songwriting team with Menghi to the many experts from the studio and business side of things and of course, our stellar lineup of special guests. As a guitarist, this project feels like a career milestone – some of my best work as a soloist (including fun tradeoffs with several esteemed colleagues) as well as the first metal recording to feature my own rhythm playing and guitar tone as it’s core foundation. I’m grateful for the opportunity and believe this is an album that will shatter all preconceptions.”

Ben Weinman:

“When a couple of legends ask you to throw down some notes on their track, it’s pretty bad ass! And it was an absolute pleasure to do. Really cool to see all these guys making music together. Metal will never die and this album is proof of that.”

Steve “Zetro” Souza:

“Being a part of Metal Allegiance is like being in a family of the greatest metal gods on the planet. And to be a part of a DIO song in its self is another dream fulfilled on my metal journey!”
