According to a report over at Billboard, sometime this summer the release dates of nearly all albums & singles will shift from Tuesday (in North America) to Friday globally. The shift has been sanctioned by numerous music industry heavyweights and comes in a bid to cut down on customer frustration and piracy. While not always the case, many albums arrive days prior to their North American (Tuesday) and UK (Monday) release via Friday release dates in other territories such as Australia and Germany. Despite concerns from various labels and associations that a global adoption of the North American Tuesday release date would be a better fit, it looks as though Friday will soon be the norm.
