Soundgarden Perform “Birth Ritual” Live For The First Time In 20 Years, Plan New Album

Soundgarden‘s current Australian run with the ‘Soundwave Festival‘ saw them pull out a deep cut during their Adelaide, Australia set over the weekend. The group dusted off “Birth Ritual“, from the soundtrack for the 1992 film, “Singles“. The performance is thought to be only their second time playing the track live, the first being back in 1992—though they have since busted it out at further ‘Soundwave Festival‘ appearances.

Meanwhile, it looks like a new Soundgarden album is a go for 2016. Guitarist Kim Thayil recently told The Sydney Morning Herald:

“No studio has been chosen and no songs are written yet. When we finish these shows in Australia we’ll spend a month or more working on it. It’s definitely going to happen. We worked with producer Adam Kasper on our last album and I wouldn’t be surprised if we hook up with him again.”
