Avenged Sevenfold‘s latest album “Hail To The King” was officially certified gold for sales in excess of 500,000 in the US this month. The RIAA certified the album on July 16th, 2014 and the group have apparently received their plaques (see below for a photo that came from Trivium that may or may not be the award.)
Meanwhile, guitarist Zacky Vengeance has told Billboard.com that the band expect to begin work on a new album later this year. Following their run on this years ‘Mayhem Festival‘, they plan to hit Japan, and after that, focus on the writing sessions for their next effort. Vengeance said of their plans:
“I think once we get home, the ideas are going to start brewing. I know Syn‘s been writing a ton purely for fun, trying different styles, recording backstage, keeping himself busy. I’ve been thinking of all sorts of ideas, listening to tons of different music to get inspiration — as have all of us.
And being on tour, I’m so inspired. Seeing bands like Body Count with Ice-T out there, they’re so old-school and riff-based and over the top and slightly offensive and it’s fuckin’ awesome. So there’s tons of inspiration that I know we’ll be drawing from.”
Prior to that, the group will be releasing a special CD/DVD set of their “Waking The Fallen” album, now titled “Waking The Fallen: Resurrected” on August 26th.
