Korn To Release Brand New Single “Hater” This Week, Plan Expanded “The Paradigm Shift”

26

Korn have an expanded version of their current album “The Paradigm Shift” in the works. The effort will be led by a newly-recorded single titled “Hater“, which will impact at radio this Thursday, June 19th. It will also be released as a digital single on June 23rd. Band frontman Jonathan Davis tells Billboard.com of the new track:

“Everyone has someone who hates on you ’cause you have something they want. It’s really, like, the first empowering song I’ve ever written. The lyrics are: ‘You can’t bring me down/I’ve already had my life turned upside down/I ride a downward spiral round and round/But I keep flying, I keep fighting/Don’t ever bring me down.’ That’s like the most positive shit I’ve ever written. And everyone who’s heard it loves it, and I think it’s going to give people who get down on people picking on them and hating them, like, ‘Fuck this! I don’t give a fuck what you think. I don’t give a fuck what you say. You just fuckin’ are a hater.’ I think people will relate with that.”

Also scheduled for inclusion on the upcoming expanded version of the album are a number of songs that never made the cut during “The Paradigm Shift” sessions, including one titled “Hercules” that was originally intended for a movie. Live tracks from various stops of the bands world touring will also be featured.

Additionally, Jonathan Davis has tracked a song by the name of “So Unfair” which deals with his young son’s struggles with type 1 diabetes. He also continues to work on Killbot as well, offering:

“It’s like a digital metal record, but when I start singing the stuff there’s some heavy rock-dub shit going on, and I got a straight pop tune. It’s all over the place. It’s really cool and I’m working on this week to get it done before we go on tour. I’ve got six songs more to do. It’s some different shit that you’ve never heard before. It’s really cool.”

If all goes according to plan, the band will be in the studio this fall working on their new album, Davis elaborated:

“I think we’re shifting to the future. We’re just really in a good place, creatively. Making [‘The Paradigm Shift‘] was really fun. We’re all in a great place, and doing the shows has just been incredible. So I would like to get back in the studio and start working on a new record as soon as we can.”

Of course prior to that they will be on this summers ‘Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival‘.
