Metallica’s “Black Album” Has Sold 16 Million Copies

Metallica‘s self-titled 1991 album (aka “The Black Album“) continues to be the best-selling album of the Nielsen SoundScan era which began tracking album sales back in 1991 as well. A report running over at Billboard.com reveals that the band have now sold 16,002,000 copies of that effort since it’s release. 3,000 of those copies were sold just last week alone. Shania Twain‘s 1997 release “Come On Over” holds the second spot on the list of most albums sold with 15.57 million copies having been purchased.
