Faith No More’s Mike Patton Thought To Possess The Widest Vocal Range


An article running over at VVN Music set out to establish which singer has the broadest range of octaves with Mike Patton of Faith No More, Tomahawk, Mr. Bungle, etc. fame coming out on top. They determined Patton has a handle on six octaves, 1/2 note (Eb1 to E7.) Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor came in at second with 5 octaves, 5-1/1 notes (Eb1 to C7).

Among the various other vocalists gauged were Axl Rose (Guns N’ Roses,) Ville Valo) (HIM,) Devin Townsend, Chino Moreno (Deftones, etc.,) King Diamond, Peter Steele (Type O Negative) and many more.
