Former New Found Glory guitarist Steve Klein was in court yesterday, April 10th, for a pre-trial hearing. Klein currently faces two counts of lewd conduct with a minor under the age of 14, three counts of lewd conduct with a minor aged 14 or 15, one count of intent to commit lewd act with a minor and one count of possession of child pornography.

Requests for a gag order on Klein‘s behalf were rejected and thus various details have come to light from the proceedings. It was detailed during the hearing that the contact Klein had with the allegedly underage females in question was not physical; but rather restricted to various interactions he had with females over the internet in two-way chat rooms.

The videos in question were presented to the police by Klein‘s ex-wife Amanda McCullough, who was going through the divorce proceedings with Klein at the time of their initial discovery.

A report over at sanluisobispo.com has word that McCullough testified that over 100 videos of two-way chats between Klein and unidentified females—some of whom appeared to be underaged—were found on an external hard drive located in Klein‘s office.

She stated that at least one of the videos showed Klein masturbating, while two females—who were clothed in the video—watched.

She testified that she didn’t see any undressed underage girls in the videos that she viewed. The pre-trial hearing focused predominantly on the legality of how said external drive was obtained and whether or not it should be entered as evidence.

Klein had previously addressed the videos in a September 2012 response to their mention in McCullough‘s divorce filings, stating:

“The videos don’t show me or the virtual partner doing anything that I have not done with my wife. When I was away, we occasionally had Skype sex and did exactly the same thing”

A preliminary hearing will be held at in San Luis Obispo Superior Court on May 22nd with a computer forensic specialist to testify.
