Downset. To Perform With Original Singer Rey Oropeza & More As Lineup Confusion Emerges (Updated)

Update – April 02nd 2:33pm:

The lineup confusion has now been cleared up, check here.

Original Story:

It appears that there might just be two different Downset.‘s touring this year. The band were recently confirmed for the stacked 2014 ‘This Is Hardcore Fest‘, which will take place at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia, PA from July 24th-27th. Festival organizers have since confirmed that various original members will be involved in that performance. They tweeted of the matter:

Downset is playing TiHC .
The lineup is original singer Rey and Ares with Chris Hamilton on drums.
Accept no substitutes.”

This means that founding vocalist Rey Opropeza, guitarist Ares Schwager and drummer Chris Hamilton are all involved—none of whom performed with the band in their 2013 incarnation, which included:

Vocals – Neil Roemer
Guitars – Rogelio Lozano
Bass – J.D. Manhart
Drums – Chris Lee

This past February, the 2013 lineup just mentioned above announced the following European performances for later this year:

06/20 Clisson, FRA – Hellfest
06/21 Oviedo, SPA – TBA
06/24 Montpellier, FRA – Secret Place
06/25 Lyss, SWI – Kufa
06/27 Tricesimo, ITA – Interstate Studio 270
06/28 Pinarella di Cervia, ITA – Rock Planet
06/29 Split, CRO – Open Air
07/01 Sarajevo, BOS – Cinemas Ex Sloga
07/02 Zagreb, CRO – Mochwara
07/06 Hamburg, GER – Headcrash
07/08 Frankfurt, GER – Elfer Club
07/09 Dresden, GER – Chemiefabrik
07/10 Osnabrück, GER – Bastard
07/11 Lünen, GER – Das Greif
07/12 Aachen, GER – Musikbunker
07/18 London, UK – Underworld
07/19 Karlsruhe, GER – New Noise Festival

Given that there has been no update on the bands official Facebook of any lineup changes or mention of the “This Is Hardcore Fest” appearance; it seems there may very well be two Downset.‘s playing shows this year. That is unless a reunion of sorts is in the works and has yet to be made public.
